CELEBICI CASE: TWO NEW DEFENCE LAWYERS APPOINTED


New lead counsel have recently been appointed to the Defence teams of the defendants Zdravko Mucic and Esad Landzo.


Defendant MUCIC:


Pursuant a Decision by the Registrar of the Tribunal, Mr. Zeljko OLUJIC, an attorney from Zagreb, replaces Mr. Branislav Tapuskovic as lead counsel of the Accused Mucic with effect from 16 May 1997.

Mr Michael Greaves will continue to serve as co-counsel.

Mr Tapuskovic and his legal assistant, Ms Mira Tapuskovic, have left the team.


Opening statement of Mr OLUJIC

On 19 May, Mr Olujic has filed with the Registry an Opening Statement "to make certain corrections of the evidence proposals of the defence of Zdravko Mucic,..., which the former Defence Team had submitted to this Trial Chamber".


Defendant LANDZO:


Pursuant an Order of Trial Chamber II on 25 April 1997, Mr John ACKERMAN, an attorney from Houston, Texas, replaces Mr Mustafa Brackovic as lead counsel of the Accused Esad Landzo.

Ms Cynthia McMurrey will continue to serve as co-counsel.
