The ICTY is convening a conference “Legacy of the ICTY in the former Yugoslavia” in Sarajevo on Tuesday, 6 November 2012.

Journalists are invited to cover this important event which will be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Zmaja od Bosne 4 street, from 9:00 to 18:00. All working sessions of the Conference will be open to the press.

The aim of the conference is to provide an opportunity for stakeholders from countries of the former Yugoslavia to engage in a direct and constructive dialogue about how the ICTY has contributed to transitional justice and dealing with the past in the region, what it will leave behind and how its legacy can be fully put to use.

Apart from representatives of the Tribunal, participants will include officials from national judiciaries, experts on transitional justice issues, victims, lawyers, journalists, politicians, representatives of NGOs, academics, artists and other stakeholders from the former Yugoslavia.

Journalists who wish to attend the Conference should send an email to Ernesa Ademagić at ademagic [at] un.org. The accreditation process will be open until Thursday, 1 November, 17:00. Space is limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
