Bosnian students learn about the Tribunal’s achievements

Bratunac, 18  March 2013

The Tribunal’s Outreach representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Almir Alić, today visited Bratunac High School Centre to talk to pupils there about the work of the ICTY.

The remains of ruined and burned out houses line the roads to this town in the far east of BiH, bearing mute witness to the extensive destruction that this community suffered during the war.

Given the nearness of the subject matter, it was unsurprising that Almir’s two-hour presentation generated a great deal of interest among the students gathered to listen to him.

On being asked what she thought of the presentation, one 17-year-old girl said: “I learned things that I had no idea about before, things that no one could previously answer my questions about.”
