Registry and Chambers:
Magdalena Spalińska, Spokesperson for Registry and Chambers, made the following statement:
Good afternoon, I’ll turn straight to an update on the upcoming courtroom schedule.
The Appeals Judgement in the case of Vujadin Popović and others has been scheduled for 30 January 2015 at 10:00am.
Turning to this week in the courtrooms, due to Mr Hadžić’s ongoing health situation, hearings in his case have been cancelled for this week and next.
Today in the case of Ratko Mladić, the Chamber is currently hearing the testimony Rajko Šarenac, who had various positions in Republika Srpska Army during the relevant period.
Next week, President Meron will conduct a three-day working visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina during 25-27 November. The President will meet victims of the 1990s conflicts and visit sites where crimes were committed against Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs during the war. Details of locations, timings of press statements and photo opportunities are available on our website.
Finally, also next week, the Tribunal’s Outreach Programme will conclude its series of 10 high school presentations in Kosovo. ICTY presenters are providing students with information on the Tribunal’s work and achievements through lectures and video footage. With these lectures, the Tribunal’s Outreach Programme concludes the high school component of its youth project, which is generously supported by the Finnish Government.
Questions
A journalist referred to the provisional release of Vojislav Šešelj without set conditions and asked whether or not the Tribunal, his Trial Chamber or the Serbian authorities would take action regarding his participation in political activities and behaviour since his release.
Spalińska reminded that the Trial Chamber has set two conditions on Vojislav Šešelj's provisional release in the public part of the order: the accused does not contact victims and witnesses and that he returns to the Tribunal on the Chamber's order.
Trial Chamber has the discretion to take any further decision that it deems appropriate in relation to Šešelj 's provisional release.
