Legacy website of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia

Since the ICTY’s closure on 31 December 2017, the Mechanism maintains this website as part of its mission to preserve and promote the legacy of the UN International Criminal Tribunals.

Support and Donations

The Tribunal is funded by regular contributions from member states. In addition to these main budget funds, the Tribunal has benefited from additional support from states and appropriate agencies in the form of donations, equipment and gratis personnel. Such voluntary contributions make up only a small fraction – less than one per cent - of the Tribunal’s operating budget but are used for vital projects such as exhumation activities and supporting the Tribunal’s groundbreaking Outreach Programme. Voluntary contributions can only be accepted from those states and bodies that comply with the United Nations policy on donations.
