Iceland Signs agreement with the United Nations to provide Experts to assist with the Kosovo Investigations conducted by the Office of the Prosecutor.

One more State has finalized an agreement with the United Nations in order to make national experts available to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).

These personnel will work on a gratis basis and for a temporary period with the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) in its investigations on the ground in Kosovo.

This agreement, which came into force on 29 July 1999, was signed by Iceland for the provision of three experts.

Discussions are ongoing with a number of other States prepared to assist the OTP’s operations in Kosovo. Similar agreements have already been signed with France, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Denmark, the United States of America, Sweden, Austria, Belgium and Germany (see Press Releases 412, 418, 421 and 424).
