Appeals Chamber Rejects Applications Made by Croatie in the Prosecutor v. Janko Bobetko Case

Today, Friday 29 November 2002, the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia rendered its Decision rejecting a challenge by the Republic of Croatia to "Decision and Orders of Confirming Judge".

This Decision follows the filing by Croatia of two applications. The first, on 30 September 2002, was entitled "Application of the Republic of Croatia to Submit an Interlocutory Appeal Against the Warrant of Arrest and Order for Surrender of 20 September 2002". The second, filed on 4 October 2002, was entitled "Request from the Republic of Croatia for a Review of the Judge’s Decision of 17 September Confirming the Indictment Against Janko Bobetko and the Order for his Arrest and Surrender of 20 September". Warrants of arrest and orders had been issued to Croatia on 17 and 20 September 2002.

President Jorda and Judge Shahabuddeen appended a Declaration, and Judges Hunt and Pocar appended a Separate Opinion.
