TRIAL CHAMBER:
CHAMBRE DE 1ÈRE INSTANCE

The Hague, 29 August 2003

JL/P.I.S./777-e

CONTINUED PROVISIONAL RELEASE GRANTED FOR MIODRAG JOKIC

Today, Friday 29 August 2003, Trial Chamber I comprised of Judge Orie, presiding, Judge El Mahdi and Judge Martin Canivell issued a written order granting continued provisional release for Miodrag Jokic as requested 26 August 2003.

In considering the matter, the Trial Chamber took as its starting point the fact that ordinarily convicted persons are not to be provisionally released.

However, in this case the Trial Chamber considered that there were "extraordinary health and family considerations, amounting to exceptional circumstances, to be taken into account in favour of Miodrag Jokic’s request".

The Trial Chamber accordingly requested the Registrar to make the appropriate arrangements for his provisional release.
