Astrit Haraqija and Bajrush Morina Granted Provisional Release

Astrit Haraqija and Bajrush Morina were today granted temporary provisional release. Both accused are to leave the Tribunal’s detention unit as soon as practicable and are to return at a time to be determined by the Trial Chamber.

Haraqija, a former minister for Culture, Youth and Sport of Kosovo, and Morina, a former political advisor to the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport and part-time editor of the Bota Sot newspaper are charged with contempt of court committed during the trial of Haradinaj and others. They are accused of trying to persuade protected witness PW not to testify against Ramush Haradinaj.

Both accused pleaded not guilty at their initial appearance on Tuesday 29 April 2008.
