 3                           [The accused entered court]

 4                           --- Upon commencing at 9.33 a.m.

5             JUDGE ORIE:  Good morning to everyone in and around this

 6     courtroom.

7             Madam Registrar, would you please call the case.

8             THE REGISTRAR:  Good morning, Your Honours.  This is case

9     IT-09-92-T, the Prosecutor versus Ratko Mladic.

10             JUDGE ORIE:  Thank you, Madam Registrar.

11             I have a few preliminaries before we start hearing the testimony

12     of the next witness.  First - and I'm primarily addressing the

13     Defence - the Defence had requested a standing authorisation for

14     Mr. Ivetic and Mr. Petrusic, who have not been assigned as counsel for

15     Mr. Mladic, to question witnesses and make submissions before the

16     Chamber.  The Chamber allows Mr. Ivetic and Mr. Petrusic to cross-examine

17     witnesses and make witness-related submissions before the Chamber,

18     provided that either counsel or co-counsel is present in the courtroom.

19     It follows from that that non-witness-related submissions need to be made

20     by counsel of record.

21             Then another matter.  The Chamber is seized of three Rule 92 bis

22     motions covering a total of 21 witnesses.  There are still around 220

23     witnesses for whom the Chamber can expect Rule 92 bis and quater motions.

24     We are progressing with these proceedings at a steady rate and the

25     Chamber wants to avoid a situation whereby it is halfway through the

Page 2417

1     Prosecution's case and still needs to dispose of Rule 92 bis and quater

2     motions covering over 200 witnesses.  The Chamber is aware that its

3     guidance on the filing of Rule 92 bis motions may affect the

4     Prosecution's ability to complete all such filings within the next month.

5     And the Chamber therefore requests an update from the Prosecution

6     concerning its intended approach and if that could be given by the 24th

7     of September, that would be appreciated.

8             MR. GROOME:  Yes, Your Honour.

 9             JUDGE ORIE:  Thank you.

10             Then for the next witness, we move into closed session and we'll

11     remain in closed session for quite a while.
