THIS TRIAL CHAMBER of the International Tribunal for the Prosecution of Persons Responsible for Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law Committed in the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia since 1991 ("the International Tribunal");

PURSUANT TO Rule 64 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence of the International Tribunal;

CONSIDERING that the Indictment of 15 January 2003 submitted by the Prosecutor against Vojislav Seselj was confirmed by Judge O-Gon Kwon on 14 February 2003;

CONSIDERING that the Warrant of Arrest and Order for Surrender of Vojislav Seselj was issued by Judge O-Gon Kwon on 14 February 2003;

CONSIDERING that Vojislav Seselj surrendered himself to the International Tribunal on 24 February 2003 and was brought to the United Nations Detention Unit on that day;

CONSIDERING that at the initial appearance of Vojislav Seselj on 26 February 2003, the Accused stated that he would not be filing a motion for provisional release as he came to the Tribunal of his own free will and did not believe that any government could provide guarantees on his behalf;

HEREBY ORDERS the detention on remand of Vojislav Seselj and enjoins the Commanding Officer of the United Nations Detention Unit in The Hague to detain the accused until further order; and

STATES that when asked, the Accused did not request that anyone be informed of his deprivation of liberty as he believed everyone already knew that he was in detention;

STATES that when asked, the Accused did not require that his embassy or consulate be informed about his deprivation of liberty and ongoing detention in accordance with Article 36(1)(b) of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (applied analogously) and did not wish to have any contact at all with any representative of Serbia and Montenegro;
