ORDER ON JUDICIAL SUPERVISION OF MILAN SIMIC

TRIAL CHAMBER I (hereinafter "the Trial Chamber") of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Prosecution of Persons Responsible for Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law Committed in the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia Since 1991,

NOTING the Decision of 26 March 1998 on the provisional release of the accused (hereinafter "the Decision"),

NOTING the amended indictment against Milan Simic, Miroslav Tadic, and Simo Zaric, confirmed by Judge Vohrah on 25 August 1995,

PURSUANT to Rule 54 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence (hereinafter "the Rules"),

CONSIDERING that the accused, Milan Simic, has been summoned for a further appearance before the Tribunal on 3 September 1998,

CONSIDERING that in its Decision of 26 March 1998, the Trial Chamber ordered that the accused return to The Hague to be present at any proceedings which the Trial Chamber might require him to attend in person, and should it do so, that he proceed immediately to the United Nations Detention Unit at The Hague,

CONSIDERING that the accused is still suffering from serious medical problems,

CONSIDERING that the accused will arrive in The Netherlands on 2 September 1998, that his presence is required only for a short session, which will be held on 3 September 1998 starting at 16.00 hours, and that arrangements have been made for his return as of 4 September 1998,

FOR THE FOREGOING REASONS,

AUTHORISES the accused, Milan Simic, to proceed directly from the airport to his place of residence in The Hague or to the Tribunal on 2 and 3 September 1998, and from his place of residence in The Hague to the airport on Friday, 4 September 1998, without having to proceed to the United Nations Detention Unit.

INVITES the Registrar to inform the relevant Dutch authorities as needed.
