Good afternoon,

The Tribunal’s courtrooms are getting busy towards the end of this and next week after the summer recess.

As you know the closing arguments in the case of Milutinović and others commenced yesterday and will continue for the rest of the week. They are expected to be completed on 27 August.

Tomorrow, 21 August, the Appeals hearings will be held in the case of Momčilo Krajišnik in Courtroom III, starting at 08.30 and scheduled to finish by 17.30 on the same day.

Two status conferences have been scheduled for Friday 23 August with that in the case of Dragomir Milošević taking place at 09.30 and in the case of Haradinaj and others at 10.30 in Courtroom III.

Next week the trials of Vojislav Šeselj, Gotovina and others, Popović and others, Lukić and others and Prlić and others will continue as scheduled.

And finally a further appearance of Radovan Karadžić has been scheduled for Friday 29 August in Courtroom I commencing at 14.15. The accreditation procedure for the media will be announced in due course.

Questions:

A journalist asked if a new indictment for Karadžić would be filed before the further initial appearance on Friday 29 August. Jelačić said that it was a question for the prosecution but as far as Registry was concerned no filing from the prosecution on this matter has been received. Jelačić added that the operative indictment remains the same and if nothing changes, he will be asked to enter a plea to charges in this indictment.

Asked if Karadžić has integrated well into the UN Detention Unit, Jelačić answered that details were not discussed about the detention facilities or any individual in them. She confirmed that he went through the check in procedure of the Tribunal upon his arrival and had no complaints and has expressed satisfaction at first appearance before the court.
