Office of the Prosecutor:
Olga Kavran, Spokesperson for the Office of the Prosecutor, made no statement.
Questions:
Asked whether the Prosecutor is going to Belgrade, Kavran responded that the Prosecutor will be going to Belgrade towards the end of the month, for a regular working visit. The exact dates will be confirmed before the next press briefing, she added.
Asked whether the Prosecution has had time to study the Krajišnik Judgement and whether there is any comment on it, Kavran responded that the team has not yet had a chance to read the entire judgement but that based on the summary read in court, some important findings can be highlighted: – Krajišnik did participate in a joint criminal enterprise whose objective was to ethnically recompose the territories under the control of the Bosnian-Serb Republic by drastically reducing the proportion of non-Serbs through the commission of various crimes; political speeches can, as a matter of law, constitute a significant contribution to the joint criminal enterprise; the fact that the displaced persons were accompanied by international forces did not render their displacement lawful; and the fact that Krajišnik did not directly perpetrate or order any of the crimes, does not necessarily entail that he should be entitled to a lesser sentence.
