Date:  2.12.2009
Time: 12:00

Registry and Chambers:

Nerma Jelačić, Spokesperson for Registry and Chambers, made the following statement:

Good afternoon,

The President and the Prosecutor will present their reports tomorrow on the Tribunal’s Completion Strategy to the United Nations Security Council in New York. The reports, filed every six months, set out both the measures that have been taken and remaining actions required to meet the completion strategy.

The Tribunal is hosting a group of representatives from the Prosecutor’s Office and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina this week. This consultative visit aims to facilitate an exchange of experiences on issues including access to the Tribunal’s archives and witness support and protection. The visit is facilitated through the Tribunal’s Outreach programme as part of UNDP’s Justice programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Last week the Tribunal hosted a group of Judges from the Novi Pazar District Court. The visit, which included meetings with the Tribunal’s Witness and Victims Section, aimed to support the implementation of a pilot project set up by the OSCE Mission in Serbia, to establish a Witness and Victims Support Service in the Novi Pazar District Court.

Onto the courtroom schedule for this week and next:

Hearings in the trial of Jovica Stanišić and Franko Simatović resume next Tuesday, 8 December at 14:15 in Courtroom II and continue next week as scheduled.

The trials of Vlastimir Ðorđević, Gotovina and others, Prlić and others as well as Mićo Stanišić and Stojan Župljanin will continue this week and next as scheduled.
