ICTY Weekly Press Briefing - 16 July 2014

Registry and Chambers:

Magdalena Spalińska, Spokesperson for Registry and Chambers, made the following statement:

In the case of Vojislav Šešelj, last Thursday 10 July, the Chamber put an end to the process it had initiated of the possible provisional release of the Accused.

Turning now to the courtrooms, in the trial of Goran Hadžić, the Chamber is currently hearing the testimony of the accused. He is the 1st Defence witness to testify.

In the trial of Ratko Mladić, witness Dragan Milanović, former Republika Srpska Army officer in Foča, has today completed his testimony. He was the 25th Defence witness to testify. Tomorrow, Milutin Vujičić, a municipal official in Foča, is expected to give his testimony.

Looking now to future scheduling, a Status Conference in the case of Vujadin Popović and others will be held next Tuesday, 22 July at 15:30 in Courtroom I.

A Status Conference in the case of Mićo Stanišić and Stojan Župljanin will be held next Thursday 24 July at 9:30 in Courtroom II.

Finally, President Meron and Prosecutor Brammertz both held separate meetings yesterday with a delegation of representatives of victims’ organisations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely the Association of Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves, and the Association of Survivors and Witnesses of Genocide. The President and the Prosecutor updated the group on the work of the Tribunal and discussed topics of mutual interest with them.
