Croatian students discuss crimes of sexual violence

Zagreb, 24 January 2012

Christopher Fry and Klara Dokmanović from the ICTY’s Zagreb Outreach office today gave a presentation on wartime sexual violence to a group of 25 students from the ‘Education for Peace’ programme. Based at Zagreb’s Centre for Peace Studies, this interdisciplinary educational programme on human rights promotes non-violence and social change through education, research and activism.

The presentation included a screening of a seven-minute clip from Outreach’s feature-length documentary on sexual violence and was followed by a question and answer session. The students had numerous queries about local legislation and prosecution (or non-prosecution) of crimes of sexual violence, and also about the ICTY's groundbreaking achievements and corpus of jurisprudence in this area.
