Tadic Case:
Contempt Proceedings instituted against Mr. Milan Vujin, Former Counsel of the Accused.
The Appeals Chamber, consisting of Judge Mohamed Shahabuddeen (Presiding), Judge Antonio Cassese, Judge Wang Tieya, Judge Rafael Nieto-Navia and Judge Florence Mumba will hold a hearing next week following allegations of contempt of the Tribunal against Mr. Milan Vujin, former counsel for Dusko Tadic, that have come to their attention.
This hearing will be public. It will begin on Tuesday 30 March 1999 at 10 a.m. and will continue at least until Thursday 1 April 1999.
PROCEDURE
On Wednesday 24 March 1999, the Appeals Chamber issued an Order setting forth the procedure to be followed during this hearing, at which the Prosecution and the Appellant will appear as "interested parties". The procedure is as follows:
"…
(1) The allegations against Mr.Vujin will be read out;
(2) The Presiding Judge will call upon Mr.Vujin to say whether he admits or rejects any or all of the allegations made against him;
(3) The Presiding Judge will, if necessary, then call those witnesses attending who have made statements alleging misconduct by Mr. Vujin (see below)
(4) …
(5)The Presiding Judge will then call upon Mr. Vujin to call the witnesses (…) (see below)
(6) …
(7) …
(8) The Presiding Judge will then ask Mr. Vujin if he wishes to make a statement as a witness in the proceeding;
(9) The Presiding Judge will then call for closing statements in the following order:
(a) Counsel for Dusko Tadic
(b) the Prosecution
(c) Mr. Vujin; …"
WITNESSES
Among the witnesses who have made "statements alleging misconduct by Mr. Vujin" and who will be called by the Chamber "if necessary" are Dusko Tadic and one of his counsel on file, Mr. R.J. Livingston.
The Order also specifies that "Mr. Vujin’s witnesses will not be called during the three days set aside Sfor the hearing of these proceedingsC but will be called at a future time to be fixed by the Appeals Chamber".
