Refik Hodžić, Spokesman for Registry and Chambers, made the following statement:
A diplomatic seminar will be held next Wednesday in Brussels where the President of the Tribunal will brief the diplomatic representatives on the activities of the court. This presentation will be followed by a roundtable during which the Prosecutor and the Registrar will also address the diplomats. The seminar is being held at the initiative of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie.
The courtrooms are very busy this week with six trials sitting in the courtrooms. The Milutinović et al, Haradinaj et al, Boškoski and Tarčulovski, Delić, Prlić et al and Popović et al trials all continuing. The seventh ongoing trial against Dragomir Milošević heard its last witness on Monday and at present is scheduled to resume to hear closing arguments on 10 October at 14:15 in courtroom II.
In September we will see the continuation of this intense courtroom activity, with all the mentioned trials continuing and status conferences to be held in cases against Lukić and Lukić, Mićo Stanišić, Momčilo Perišić, Milan Martić and Vojislav Šešelj.
Olga Kavran, Spokesperson for the Office of the Prosecutor, made the following statement:
Deputy Prosecutor David Tolbert is in the United States today, attending a conference on "The law of wars: Past, Present and Future". The other participants are current and past prosecutors from the six international criminal tribunals and courts – the Nuremberg Tribunal, the ICTR, the Special Court for Sierra Leone, the International Criminal Court and the Cambodia Tribunal. The conference is held in Chautauqua, New York and the participants intend to issue a joint declaration summarising their findings and offering recommendations for the future of international humanitarian law. They will also hold a press conference at 2.30 this afternoon NY time (which is 8.30 PM our time).
As Refik Hodzić mentioned, the Prosecutor will also attend the diplomatic seminar in Brussels next Wednesday.
