Date: 19 February 2014

Magdalena Spalińska, Spokesperson for Registry and Chambers, made the following statement:

Good afternoon,

The Trial Chamber’s decision on the Rule 98bis motion for acquittal in the case of Goran Hadzic is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 20 February at 15:30 in courtroom I. In the Rule 98bis motion hearing held on 16 and 18 December, the Defence for Hadžić claimed that the Prosecution has not proven any of the 14 counts against the Accused and asked for an acquittal. The Prosecution requested in its response that the motion should be dismissed.

In the case of Vojislav Šešelj, last Thursday, Judge Agius, Acting President of the ICTY assigned an Appeals Chamber bench to consider the accused's appeal filed on 10 January against the decision ordering the continuation of the proceedings.

In the case of Radovan Karadžić, during the hearing last Friday, the Chamber announced that the Defence motion for adjournment for the accused to prepare for his testimony was partially granted. The trial will adjourn after the testimony of the last Defence witness until 3 March when the accused’s testimony will commence. Also during the hearing, the Prosecution announced that it would seek to present rebuttal evidence, and was given until 4 March to file its motion.

Continuing with the Karadžić case, witness Momčilo Gruban is currently giving testimony about the Omarska camp, where he was the Security shift leader during the relevant period. He is the 238th witness to be called by the Defence.
