Invitation to attend first high school presentation marking the third year of youth outreach project
The Tribunal’s Outreach Programme will launch a regional youth outreach project with a presentation at the Fifth Gymnasium of Sarajevo, Senada Poturka Senčija bb Street, on Thursday, 6 March at 11:30 a.m.
The event will mark the launch of the third year of Outreach presentations to high schools and universities across the former Yugoslavia.
The presentations will introduce students to the work of the Tribunal and its contribution to the establishment of facts about the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990’s. Through direct engagement with young people the presentations aim to provide the students with information that will foster critical thinking on international criminal law and transitional justice.
The first phase of the Tribunal’s Youth Outreach Project was held from December 2011 to October 2012, engaging over 2,000 high school and 1,500 university students from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro. The second phase of the project took place in 2013 and reached over 1,275 high school and 1,157 university students.
As the ICTY moves towards the completion of its mandate, the Outreach Programme is intensifying its efforts to increase the access of local communities to information on the Tribunal’s work. In doing so, the Outreach Programme supports the Tribunal’s legacy throughout the region of the former Yugoslavia.
The Outreach Programme benefits from the support of the European Union and its work with the youth of the former Yugoslavia is generously supported by the Finnish government.
