Belgrade, 22 May 2012
Twelve Dutch journalism students and their professor today visited the ICTY’s Belgrade Outreach office. The budding journalists were specifically keen on learning about the Tribunal’s role in the post-war reconciliation process, and about the process itself in the wider region. The students were also interested in how the Tribunal works to counter the negative perceptions of its achievements that often prevail in Serbia.
Liaison Officer Morgiana Brading talked about how the Tribunal’s Outreach activities contribute to dealing with the past in the region.
The students were especially keen to hear about the Outreach Programme’s work with high schools and universities, given the often sensitive situation on the ground in the countries of the former Yugoslavia.
