J.L./P.I.S./585e
Justice Minister of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia gives
Commitment to serve ICTY Arrest Warrant on Slobodan Milosevic.
Mr. Hans Holthuis, Registrar of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), concluded today his two-day visit to Belgrade.
Mr. Holthuis held separate meetings with the Minister of Justice of Serbia, Mr. Vladan Batic, and the Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY), Mr. Momcilo Grubac. The practical modalities related to the obligation of the Belgrade authorities to transfer Slobodan Milosevic to The Hague promptly and with all due diligence were discussed.
The ICTY Registrar provided Minister Grubac with the arrest warrant for Slobodan Milosevic. Minister Grubac accepted it and gave his commitment to have it, together with the ICTY indictment, served expeditiously on Slobodan Milosevic. This is the same arrest warrant handed personally to the authorities in Belgrade by the ICTY Prosecutor, Ms. Carla Del Ponte, on 23 January 2001.
Other issues discussed in the meetings included the ongoing investigation of Slobodan Milosevic by the Belgrade authorities and information related to the FRY draft law on cooperation between Belgrade and the Tribunal.
