Fatmir Limaj Transferred to the ICTY Detention Unit


The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) confirms that Fatmir Limaj was transferred from Slovenia to the ICTY Detention Unit on Tuesday 4 March 2003.

In order to enable the accused to enter a plea on the charges laid against him, an initial appearance hearing will take place on Wednesday 5 March, at 3.30 p.m., before Judge Liu in Courtoom 1.

Fatmir Limaj was indicted on 27 January 2003. The indictment charges him with four counts of crimes against humanity and five counts of violations of the laws or customs of war, allegedly committed in 1998 in Lapusnik / Llapushnik Prison Camp of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) located in the municipality of Glogovac / Gllogoc in Kosovo. The indictment alleges that Fatmir Limaj was a commander in the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and was responsible for the operation of the Lapusnik / Llapushnik Prison Camp (see press release 729e and 730e).
