Borovčanin and Miletić Granted Provisional Release

The Trial Chamber II yesterday, 22 May 2008, granted Radivoje Miletić and Ljubomir Borovčanin temporary provisional release to Republika Sprska in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a period not exceeding four days between 26 to 30 May 2008.

Miletić, a former high ranking military official of the Bosnian Serb army, and Borovčanin, former Deputy Commander of the Republika Srpska Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) Special Police Brigade, are charged with six others with crimes committed against Bosnian Muslims in the Srebrenica and Žepa enclaves in the summer of 1995.

The trial commenced on 14 July 2006. The Prosecution case closed on 7 February 2008. A pre-Defence conference was held 22 May 2008. The first Defence witness is scheduled to appear on 2 June 2008.
