Good morning,
First let me remind you that the launch of a joint report on the needs of the judiciary in the former Yugoslavia will take place directly after this briefing in the lobby of the Tribunal.
The Report, titled “Supporting the Transition Process: Lessons Learned and Best Practices in Knowledge Transfer” is the outcome of a year-long collaboration between the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the ICTY and the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute. It provides concrete recommendations for further action in order to cement the capacity of the region to continue bringing to justice those responsible for war crimes committed during the 1990s.
Copies of the report will be available after the event and you are all welcome to attend.
As for the courtroom schedule:
In the Gotovina and others case, the Gotovina Defence team has completed the presentation of its case, and the first witness for the Defence of Ivan Čermak has been called.
As to the Prlić and others case, today’s hearing has been cancelled. The case will resume tomorrow at 14.15 in Courtroom III with the testimony of the fourth witness for the defence of Slobodan Praljak.
A Status Conference in the case of Sainović and others will be held on 25 September at 14:15 in Courtroom III.
The trial of Momčilo Perišić will resume on Monday 28 September. The following day, 29 September at 14.15, the trial of Mićo Stanišić and Stojan Župljanin resumes, having started last week with the testimony of the first prosecution witness.
The trial of Vlastimir Ðorđević will continue this week and next as scheduled.
Office of the Prosecutor:
The Office of the Prosecutor had the following statement:
Prosecutor Brammertz will be in Croatia next week, on Monday and Tuesday, where he will meet with President Mesić, Prime Minister Kosor, Minister of Justice Šimonović, Prosecutor Bajić and others.
This will be a regular working visit to discuss pending issues in cooperation of Croatia with the Office of the Prosecutor.
