Jim Landale, Spokesman for Registry and Chambers,
made the following statement:
Good afternoon,
Yesterday, Judge Andresia Vaz from
Senegal was sworn in as a Judge of the Appeals Chamber
of the ICTY and ICTR. Judge Vaz, a former Vice President
of the ICTR, was assigned by ICTR President Erik
Mose to the Appeals Chamber as one of the two Judges
on the Appeals Chamber from the ICTR. Judge Vaz replaces
Judge Weinberg de Roca who has been assigned to a
Trial Chamber at the ICTR.
I can confirm that the trial of
Mile Mrskic, Veselin Sljivancanin and Miroslav Radic
has been scheduled to commence on 4 October 2005
before Trial Chamber II, with opening statements
from the parties on 4 and 5 October. The Prosecution
will start presenting their evidence on Monday 10
October. There will be a pre-defence conference on
Monday 3 October.
A reminder that the closing
arguments in the trial of Fatmir Limaj, Haradin Bala
and Isak Musliu will commence on Monday 29 August
in Courtroom I at 2.15 p.m. and will continue throughout
the week.
In addition, the Appeals Chamber
is expected to render its judgement in the case against
Miodrag Jokic on Tuesday 30 August starting at 2.15
p.m. in Courtroom III.
There will be a hearing on Nebojsa
Pavkovic's application for provisional release on
Tuesday 23 August starting at 3 p.m. in Courtroom
III.
The pre-defence conference in The
Prosecutor v. Naser Oric will be held on Monday 22
August starting at 9 a.m. in Courtroom III.
Status conferences will be held
in The Prosecutor v. Boskoski and Tarculovski on
Friday at 2.15 p.m. in Courtroom I; in The Prosecutor
v. Pandurevic and Trbic next Wednesday 24 August
at 2.15 p.m. in Courtroom I; in The Prosecutor
v. Borovcanin also next Wednesday 24 August at
3.30 p.m. also in Courtroom I; in The Prosecutor
v. Drago Nikolic also next Wednesday 24 August
at 2.15 p.m. in Courtroom III; and finally in The

Questions
Asked whether there
were new developments regarding the transfer of
Milan Lukić from Argentina to the Tribunal,
Landale stated that he was confident that Milan
Lukic would be transferred once the necessary
legal, practical and logistical arrangements were made.
