Jim
Landale, Spokesman for Registry and Chambers made the following statement:
We
have received copies of the Defence’s reply to SFOR’s submission in the Todorovic
case. This follows the filing of SFORs’ submission on 9 July. Copies of both
those documents are available after this.
We
also have copies of the Prosecutions’ appeal brief in the Jelisic case. The
briefs from both parties were due on 10 July, but on 7 July the Defence filed
an urgent motion for an extension of time to file their brief. An extension
was initially granted until 17 July, but on that date the Appeals Chamber ordered
that "the time shall be provisionally extended to the 21 July to enable
the Appeals Chamber to deliberate on and decide on the urgent motion."
In
the Krajisnik case: On 14 July, Trial Chamber III denied in part Momcilo Krajisnik’s
application for leave to be represented by experts and attorneys on a pro
bono basis at the hearing on the preliminary motions scheduled for this
afternoon at 1545 hours. The Trial Chamber ordered that only Professor Lukic
may accompany assigned counsel at the hearing. Professor Lukic is an expert
in constitution law and international law from the Republika Srpska.
We
have copies of both of Krajisnik’s preliminary motions on the jurisdiction of
the ICTY and on defects on the form of the indictment, and the Prosecutions’
response to them.
There
will be a hearing on the motion for the provisional release of Radoslav Brdanin
on Thursday at 1100 in Courtroom III. There are copies of the motion for provisional
release available.
In
addition, there will be a status conference in the Naletilic and Martinovic
case on Thursday at 1600 in Courtroom II. We have copies of that scheduling
order.
A
reminder that at 1400 hours this Friday, the Appeals Chamber will render its
Judgement in the Furundzija appeal. We will have copies of the Judgement and
the summary read out in court by the Presiding Judge available after that hearing.
Also,
just to let you know that an Albanian language version of the Milosevic indictment
is now available. We hope to have other basic documents translated into Albanian
in due course.
Finally,
the latest copy of the Tribunal’s Judicial Supplement is now available. For
those of you that don’t already know, the Judicial Supplement is produced by
the Public Information Services’ Legal Unit each month in English and French,
and contains all the significant legal developments that have taken place over
that month.
