REGISTRY AND
CHAMBERS

Jim Landale, Spokesman for Registry and Chambers, made the following opening
statement:

First to start with a couple of reminders:

The Judgement in the case The Prosecutor v. Naletilic and Martinovic
will be rendered on Monday 24 March at 2 p.m. in Courtroom III

Also, Judge Schomburg has ordered that Vojislav Seselj make a further appearance,
on Tuesday 25 March, at 4.30 p.m. This follows the initial appearance hearing
of 26 February, during which the Accused "declined to enter a plea
and stated that he would enter a plea within thirty days",
pursuant
to Rule 62(iii).

Earlier on the same day at 2.30 p.m. Trial Chamber III (Judge May presiding,
Judge Robinson and Judge Kwon) will hold a hearing on the Motions for Provisional
Release filed by Dragoljub Ojdanic and Nikola Sainovic on 10 February 2003,
and by Milan Milutinovic on 23 January 2003.

With regard to developments related to on-going proceedings:

The trials continue as scheduled in the Milosevic, Galic, Simic et al, Brjdanin
and Stakic cases.

This afternoon, two status conferences are scheduled. The first, in the
Prosecutor v. Hadzihasanovic, Alagic and Kubura will take place in Courtroom
III between 1.30 p.m. and 1.45 p.m. The second, in the Prosecutor v. Krajisnik
will take place in Courtroom I between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

There will be a status conference in the Prosecutor v. Krstic at 2.30 p.m.
on 19 March.

Among the decisions issued by the Chambers since the last briefing, the following
are brought to your attention:

On 7 March, in the case the Prosecutor v. Drago Josipovic, the Appeals Chamber
(Judge Pocar, presiding, Judge Liu, Judge Guney, Judge Gunarwardana and Judge
Meron) dismissed Josipovic’s Motion for Review and Motion for Urgent Consideration.

On 6 March, in the case The Prosecutor v. Vojislav Seselj, Trial
Chamber II (Judge Schomburg, presiding Judge Mumba and Judge Agius) issued
an order for the Registry to provide the Accused with a translation of the
Prosecutor’s Motion of 28 February in B/C/S and invited the Accused the file
a response by 21 March 2003. The Trial Chamber further ordered that the Registry
provide the Accused with translations of any future motions filed by the Prosecution
in B/C/S for the period during which the Accused does not have any legal assistance.

On 10 March, in the Prosecutor v. Radoslav Brdanin, Trial Chamber II issued
a Decision ordering that proceedings be adjourned as of 14 March until 14
April. This follows the absence of Brdanin’s Lead Counsel during that time
for medical reasons.

We will be handing out a list of all the latest court documents at the end
of the briefing. Please let my office know which you would like copies of.

Florence Hartmann, Spokeswoman for the Office of the Prosecutor, made no statement.

Questions

A journalist noted that the US Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues,
Mr. Pierre Richard Prosper, was visiting the ICTY today. She wondered whether
there was any official comment on his visit or whether it was merely routine.
Landale answered that Ambassador Prosper would be meeting the President. If there
were any further details he could give out, he would do so in due course, he said.
Hartmann added that Ambassador Prosper would also meet the Prosecutor.

Another journalist asked the same question with regard to the British Ambassador, who was also visiting the ICTY today. He wondered whether there was any specific reason for this. Landale answered that he did not have any information on the visit but could find out if necessary.
