The Tribunal today launched a new version of its website to ensure its work and achievements are even more accessible to the public. The website will contribute to the preservation of the Tribunal’s legacy for future generations following the completion of the ICTY’s mandate in 2017.
Available in English, French, and Bosnian, Croatian or Serbian, the new website can be easily navigated. The content has been re-organised, graphics improved and page layouts altered. The homepage now also provides shortcuts to popular content and legal research tools.
A new important addition is the In Focus section that was introduced to bring together a collection of multimedia materials highlighting particular topics connected to the ICTY’s work. Among other features, In Focus provides access to the documentaries produced by the ICTY Outreach Programme.
The Tribunal's website attracts more than 50,000 visitors’ sessions every month, and more than 2 million web pages are viewed annually. The Tribunal’s website hosts more than 10,000 pages, 70,000 public legal documents and live online broadcasts of on-going proceedings.
The launch of the new website is an important step in the Legacy Websites Project that is managed by the Tribunal’s successor - the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals. The project is part of the Mechanism’s role in preserving the legacy of the ad hoc Tribunals.
