PRESS STATEMENT BY JUSTICE R.J. GOLDSTONE, PROSECUTOR OF THE ICTY
The Prosecutor has requested the Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to enable him to interview two potential witnesses, Radoslav KREMENOVIC and Drazen ERDEMOVIC. They are believed to be in a position to give relevant evidence in respect of the Prosecutor's investigation into the alleged atrocities committed during the Bosnian Serb take-over of Srebrenica and the
events that followed during the summer of 1995. Both KREMENOVIC and ERDEMOVIC were at the relevant times members of the Bosnian Serb Army.
On Sunday 3 March 1996 both men were arrested in Novi Sad. That same date the Prosecutor requested the Belgrade authorities to serve summonses on both men ordering them to appear before the seat of the Tribunal in The Hague for the purpose of being questioned by the Prosecutor. In addition the Prosecutor requested the co-operation of the authorities of the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia to transfer both men to The Hague for that purpose.
These requests were made pursuant to the Tribunal's Statute and Rules of Procedure and Evidence which are binding on all States. On Tuesday 12 March 1996, the Deputy Prosecutor, Mr. Graham Blewitt, together with three senior members of the Prosecutor's staff, will have discussions in Belgrade with the Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in relation to these two men and
co-operation generally between it and the Tribunal.
