Ambassador Gelbard has visited the OTP Office in Belgrade.

Monday 26 May 1997, Ambassador Gelbard, Special Representative of the President of the United States and the Secretary of State on the implementation of the Dayton Agreement, visited the Liaison Office of the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) in Belgrade.

Ambassador Gelbard held a working-meeting with the Head of the OTP Liaison Office in Belgrade, Mr Deyan Mihov. He welcomed the progress in the functioning of the Liaison Office.

The discussion focused on the status of co-operation between the OTP and the authorities of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and on the current level of compliance by the latter with its obligations to co-operate with ICTY.

In the Prosecutor's view, this visit by Ambassador Gelbard illustrates the strong commitment by the United States to a full-scale implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The Office of the Prosecutor wishes to take the opportunity of this visit to reaffirm that it welcomes all international efforts to assist the Parties to Dayton to live up to their obligation of unconditional co-operation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
