Registry and Chambers

Magdalena Spalińska, Spokesperson for Registry and Chambers, made the following statement:

Good afternoon,

I’ll begin with an update on the case of Goran Hadžić.  Today, 25 and tomorrow 26 February the Trial Chamber is hearing testimony of the two experts appointed by the Registrar to examine the state of health of the Accused and to answer questions related to his ability to attend and participate in trial proceedings, as ordered by the Chamber on 16 January 2015.  A Defence request of 22 January for a 12-week provisional release for the Accused on health grounds is currently under consideration by the Chamber, and a decision will be issued in due course.

In the case of Šainović and others, on 30 January the President of the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals, Judge Meron assigned the request for review of the Appeal Judgement, filed by Sreten Lukić to an Appeals Chamber.

Moving onto scheduling matters, a Status Conference in the case of Mićo Stanišić & Stojan Župljanin appeal case is scheduled for 6 March at 09:30 in Courtroom 1.

Finally, in the case of Ratko Mladić, the Chamber is currently hearing the testimony of Miodrag Dragutinović, former member of the Zvornik Brigade of Republika Srpska Army.  He is the 125th Defence witness to testify.
 

Questions

When asked whether today's hearings in the case of Goran Hadžić was in closed session, Magdalena Spalińska confirmed that it was. She could not confirm whether tomorrow's session will be closed.
