ICTY Weekly Press Briefing - 28th Jul 2004

ICTY Weekly Press Briefing

Please
note that this is not a verbatim transcript of the Press Briefing.
It is merely a summary.

ICTY Weekly Press Briefing

Date: 28.07.2004

Time: 12.00 p.m.

Registry and Chambers:

Jim Landale, Spokesman for Registry
and Chambers, made the following statement:

Good afternoon,

There will be a Plenary Session
of the Judges of the Tribunal this afternoon and possibly tomorrow.
We will keep you informed of any developments that might arise from
the Session.

I would like to remind you that
the Appeals Judgement in The Prosecutor v. Tihomir Blaskic will
be rendered tomorrow 29 July at 9 a.m. in Courtroom I. You are all
welcome to attend.

We have also received the ‘Prosecution
Submission in Response to the Trial Chamber’s 19 July 2004 "Further
Order on Future Conduct of the Trial
"’, the ‘Prosecution
Submission in Response to the Trial Chamber’s 21 July 2004 "Further
Order on Future Conduct of the Trial Relating to Severance of One
or More Indictments
"’, and the Amici Curiae’s submissions
on the same subject.

Copies of these have already been made for you
and will be available after this briefing.

As the summer recess is almost
upon us, this will be the last scheduled press briefing until 1
September. Needless to say, the Press Office will of course be staffed
and open throughout the recess period.

Finally, I understand that the ADC will give a
briefing after this.

See
also the latest ADC-ICTY press briefing.

Office of the Prosecution:

Florence Hartmann for the Office
of the Prosecutor announced that she would be on leave from 6 August
2004.

Questions:

Asked whether he had any information
on hearings for the last week of August, Landale answered that the
Krajisnik trial was scheduled to restart in the afternoon of 30
August. The Milosevic trial was scheduled to restart the following
day, he added.
