Two seminars on reporting about the work of the ICTY for journalists from Kosovo and Macedonia will be held next week in Pristina and Skopje. The seminars are organized by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, in cooperation with ICTY Outreach and with financial support from the United Kingdom Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

SCHEDULE:

On to the schedule:

There will be a sentencing judgement in the case against Dragan Zelenović today at 13:45 in courtroom II. Zelenović pleaded guilty to charges of torture and rape against a number of Bosnian Muslim women and girls following the take-over of Foča in April 1992 by Serb forces. The crimes to which Mr. Zelenović has pleaded guilty took place in several different detention centres in Foča municipality were Bosnian Muslim women and girls were held, and were part of a pattern of sexual assaults that took place over a period of several months and involved multiple victims.

At the sentencing hearing held on 23 February 2007, the prosecution asked for a sentence in the range of 10 to 15 years’ imprisonment and the defence asked for a range of seven to 10 years' imprisonment.

Following the sentencing judgement today, a procedural hearing will be held in the Boškoski and Tarčulovski case at 15:00 also in courtroom II.

Finally for this week, there will be a status conference in the Krajišnik case at 8:00 tomorrow in courtroom III.

Next week, there will be no trials for any of the on-going cases. However, the pre-trial conference for the Boškoski and Tarčulovski case will be held Thursday, 12 April at 9:00 in courtroom III.

As a reminder, the Tribunal will be closed this Friday and Monday due to a UN holiday.

FILINGS:

In the Gotovina et al. case, Miroslav Šeparović filed today an addendum to his interlocutory appeal against the Trial Chamber's decision of conflict of interest and misconduct. The addendum contains a letter from the Prosecutor responding to Šeparović's question of whether or not he was under investigation by the prosecution. In the letter, the Prosecutor responded that she was not conducting any new investigations and as a result Šeparović was not under investigation for a future indictment. She also added in the letter the question of whether or not he had been under investigation was irrelevant to the Trial Chamber's decision.

Office of the Prosecutor:

Olga Kavran, Spokesperson for the Office of the Prosecutor, made no comment.

Questions:

A journalist noted that in the past, the Prosecutor tended to talk about Mladić because she had not received any news about Karadžić. In response to his question as to whether this situation had changed, Kavran stated that unfortunately it had not. She added that the Prosecution still believed that five of the six fugitives were within reach of the Serbian authorities and that Đorđevic was in Russia. Nothing had changed in that respect.
