The media accreditation procedure has now opened for those wishing to attend the final Symposium and the official Closing Ceremony of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), scheduled for 18 and 21 December 2017, respectively.
The one-day Symposium, entitled “Looking Back to Move Forward: Final Reflections on the ICTY”, will be held next Monday, 18 December 2017, at Leiden University The Hague Campus, and is envisaged as a dynamic and thought-provoking event with various panel discussions. Speakers and attendees will include academics, international experts, judges and legal practitioners from the ICTY and other judicial institutions, members of the diplomatic community, and stakeholders from the region of the former Yugoslavia.
The Tribunal’s official Closing Ceremony, will take place on 21 December 2017 at the prestigious Ridderzaal, located within the confines of the Dutch Parliament in The Hague. His Majesty, King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands, and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres have confirmed their attendance at this high-level event, which will mark the official closure of the ICTY after more than 24 years of operations. Other esteemed guests include representatives of the diplomatic community, international courts and tribunals, other international organisations, and victims’ groups from the former Yugoslavia, as well as a number of ICTY staff and members of academia and civil society. The Tribunal has also invited all former ICTY Judges, Prosecutors and Registrars to attend this historic occasion.
All media representatives wishing to be accredited for one or both of these events are kindly requested to submit an accreditation request by email to press [at] icty.org by 15 December, at 12:00 noon. The email should contain the name of the media outlet as well as full name, birth date, passport number and contact details of all journalists, cameramen and technicians. Please indicate which event(s) you wish to attend. Due to space restrictions, the number of media able to attend these events will be limited.
Please note that no accreditation will be granted after the deadline due to security measures set in place for these events. Accredited media will be informed via email.
