Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte meets U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

The Prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte, met US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on Friday 26 May 2000. This was their first meeting and it was very friendly and positive.

During the meeting a number of important issues were discussed, including the apprehension of all remaining fugitives who have been indicted by the ICTY, including Radovan Karadzic.

The Prosecutor expressed her gratitude for the support provided by the United States to the ICTR and the ICTY and for Secretary Albright’s personal commitment to their success and in achieving justice for the victims of the horrendous crimes which were committed in Rwanda and in the former Yugoslavia.
