I commend the courage of the SFOR soldiers who took part in this most recent arrest attempt. We share a sense of regret that this attempt ended in tragedy. It is regrettable that Janko Janjic, who had previously threatened to kill himself and others should an arrest attempt be made, chose to exercise this option, thus endangering the lives of SFOR soldiers as well.

We recognize that the application of justice to a region that is still not at peace continues to be a dangerous business. The events of last night only underscore the necessity that those who are publicly accused must voluntarily surrender at the earliest possible date.
