TADIC CASE: UPDATE

Sentencing of Dusko TADIC set for Tuesday 1 July 1997

In an Order dated 27 May 1997, Judge McDonald has ordered the Defence and the Prosecution:

- to file their written submissions as to any relevant information that may assist the Trial Chamber in determining an appropriate sentence by Monday 9 June 1997.

[Under the Statute and the Rules of Procedure and Evidence, such "relevant information" relates to the gravity of the offence, the individual circumstances of the accused as well as the presence of any aggravating or mitigating circumstances].

- to indicate whether they wish to make oral submissions and to call witnesses.

The Order specifies that, if necessary, oral submissions on sentencing will be heard in the period Tuesday 17 to Friday 21 June 1997, and states: "Sentencing is set for Tuesday 1 July 1997".

Appeal filed by the Defence

On Friday 23 May 1997, Mr. Milan VUJIN, Counsel for the Accused TADIC, has filed with the Registry a Notice of Appeal.

The Notice states that "an Appellant's brief of argument and authorities shall be served" later on.
