Tribunal Welcomes Final Independent Dutch Inquest Results Concerning Death of Slobodan Milosevic
The Tribunal President, Judge Fausto Pocar, welcomes the final results of the Dutch authorities' independent inquest into the death of Slobodan Milosevic which confirm that he died of natural causes and rules out any suggestion of criminal conduct.
The report, submitted yesterday to the Tribunal from The Hague District Public Prosecutor's Office, formally closes the independent investigation of the Dutch authorities into the death of Slobodan Milosevic who died in the Tribunal's Detention Unit on 11 March 2006 of a heart attack.
Now that the Tribunal has been provided with copies of the independent autopsy and toxicology report, as well as the final inquest findings of the Dutch authorities, that all confirm that Slobodan Milosevic died from natural causes, the internal enquiry ordered on 11 March 2006 by the Tribunal's President will focus its attention on issues relating to the medical treatment provided to Slobodan Milosevic while in the Tribunal's detention facility. The internal inquiry expects to conclude its investigation on these issues shortly.
