BLASKIC CASE: HEARING ON SUBPOENA TO BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA ON FRIDAY 13 JUNE


In an Order dated 27 May 1997, Judge McDonald directed the Parties to the subpoena proceedings concerning the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina to appear on Friday 13 June at 3.00 p.m. "to report to the Trial Chamber on the efforts to ensure compliance with a subpoena duces tecum [of 30 April 1997] addressed to the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Stjepan
Ivankovic, Director, War Archive of the Croatian Community of Herceg-Bosna or his successor
".


Further, in an Order to give evidence dated 29 May 1997, Judge McDonald directed Mato Tadic, Minister of Justice for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, or his representative, to appear at the same hearing "to show cause why the subpoena duces tecum of 30 April has not been complied with and to be prepared to inform the Trial Chamber what affirmative steps were taken to
serve the subpoena duces tecum on Mr. Stjepan Ivankovic
".



Background


At the request of the Prosecutor, Judge McDonald issued on 30 April a subpoena duces tecum addressed to the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to Stjepan Ivankovic, Director, War Archive of the Croatian Community of Herceg-Bosna, or his successor. The subpoena ordered that 11 specified categories of evidence be provided to the Prosecutor on or before 27 May 1997.
