Inauguration of Courtroom II will take place on 5 May 1998
The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia is proud to announce the inauguration of a second Courtroom. The inauguration will take place on 5 May 1998 at 11.15 a.m. in courtroom II.
The construction of the second courtroom has been funded by the generous donation of 300,000 pounds sterling (approximately ½ million dollars) of the British Government. Thanks to this generous gift the Tribunal will be able to proceed with all the current and expected trials with a minimum of delay which is a pre-requisite for the proper adjudication of the crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia, and for bringing justice to their victims.
The Right Honourable John Morris Q.C. M.P., Attorney General for England and Wales will lead the inauguration and will give a Press Conference at 12.00 a.m. after the ceremony.
Judge Gabrielle Kirk McDonald, President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, H.E. Rosemary Spencer, Ambassador to the Netherlands and Mr. Graham Blewitt, Deputy Prosecutor will participate in the Press Conference.
All Media representatives are kindly invited to attend the inauguration which will commence at 11.15 a.m. and the Press Conference at 12 noon. After the ceremony the press will be able to visit courtroom II.
