Judge Carmel Agius and Judge Liu Daqun

Judge Carmel Agius (Malta) and Judge Liu Daqun (China) were elected by acclamation as President and Vice-President of the Tribunal by the permanent judges in an Extraordinary Plenary Session today, 21 October 2015.


This week, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism) will join the UN in celebrating 70 years since the entry into force of the UN Charter on 24 October 1945.


As part of preparations for his regular biyearly report to the UN Security Council (UNSC), Prosecutor Serge Brammertz will be in Sarajevo from 19 to 21 October.


President Theodor Meron today presented the Tribunal’s twenty-second Annual Report to the UN General Assembly. President Meron reported on the Tribunal’s significant progress in completing the last of its proceedings.


Prosecutor Serge Brammertz of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia today visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Stari Most and the Old City of Mostar, together with UNESCO Head of Sarajevo Office Mr. Siniša Šešum and the Mayor of Mostar Mr.
